Terms and Conditions
At Optimus my goal is to provide you with the highest standard of training, so that you start your motoring independence as a competent and confident driver. You are gaining a skill for life, not just training to pass.
Below is a list of Commitments to you as a Learner, and the standards that I constantly strive to achieve.
I hope that you will agree with the statements, and that they will form the bedrock of a fruitful partnership between you and Optimus School of Motoring.
Your First 10 Hours for £200.00 - Ts & Cs
- You can take advantage of this offer only once, and you must book and pay for 10 Hours at the same time at a cost of £200.00
- Full payment must be made at the time of booking lessons or on the day of your first lesson
- This offer is not available to anyone currently taking lessons with Optimus
- No refunds will be made in the case of non-use
- Subsequent lesson prices will be at £23.00 per hour
- Lessons are normally either 1, 1½ or 2 hours
- Offer is only available to new customers who live in Basingstoke, have not had driving lessons before and are subject to availability
- This offer cannot be used in conjunction with any Intensive Courses or any other offer, for example, Recommend a Friend
- Lessons must be redeemed within 6 months of booking/payment
- Optimus reserves the right to vary the terms of this offer and/or withdraw the offer at any time.
Turning up on Time
I am committed to turning up on time. If ever I am running late, I will call you as soon as possible. It is extremely rare that I am unable to turn up at the time I say, but if I am unable to meet my commitments, I will go out of my way to fit you in at the next convenient time for you. I will also pick up and drop off from a location that is most convenient for you, whether it be at home, work or college within the Basingstoke area.
One to one Tuition
Unlike some driving schools I have a strict policy that I will offer one-to-one tuition and you will never have another pupil in the car when you are met for your lesson. This practice (called piggybacking) can sometimes mean that some driving schools offer cheap prices, however your tuition will suffer as you end up spending half your lesson taking another pupil home.
Honouring the Full Time of The Lesson
With Optimus School of Motoring you will always receive the full time booked for the lesson. I offer 1 hour, 1½ hour and 2 hour lessons. I normally recommend 1½ to 2 Hour Lessons to pupils as this has been shown to improve pupils progress particularly compared to a 1 hour lesson.
If at any point you feel that I am not honouring this commitment you should bring this to my attention and I will immediately remedy the situation.
The BMW Mini Cooper 1.6D
I operate a BMW Mini Cooper 1.6D that was Registered in June 2009.
My vehicle is fully maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations, and has Air Conditioning as well as numerous other safety features.
My vehicle has professionally installed (HE-MAN) Dual Controls so that should the need arise I can take control of the vehicle. I keep the car regularly clean and valeted.
As well as offering you a safe and comfortable environment in which to learn, I am committed to ensuring you enjoy your lessons and that we both have fun while together in the car.
Professional, Patient & Courteous
I will always be professional & courteous towards you. Part of my training ensured that I am fully aware of my actions and that I do not cause offence. For your reassurance that I am fit to teach young people, I have an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Check (CRB) which is fully up to date.
Patience is a virtue, and I hope that your experience with Optimus demonstrates this. I will always remain calm and in control. If you are having any difficulty with the tasks you are being asked to perform, I will normally ask you to pull over and repeat the exercise so that you have more time to practice.
Cancellation
Optimus operates a policy of 48 hours notice for cancelling or rearranging lessons. I will honour this and expect the same commitment from you. I will expect you to pay the full cost of a cancelled lesson when less than 48 hours notice is given and pay the full cost of a lesson if you are late for an appointment and accept that the lesson will finish at the pre-arranged time.
Please ensure that you are fit to drive when you arrive for a lesson and agree to make full payment for the lesson should I deem you unfit to drive. I will cancel the lesson without notice if you appear unfit to drive - on the grounds of safety.
I will not cancel lessons unless due to a family emergency or for safety reasons. If I have to cancel your lesson at short notice, I will call you as soon as possible and normally offer compensation.
I reserve the right to refuse the use of my car for the purpose of a Practical Driving Test if you do not successfully pass a Mock Test.
Personalised Lesson Plan
I will use a Personalised Lesson Plan throughout your training. This is a means of recording your progress and for us to be able to plan for your next lesson. It ensures that you are able to competently demonstrate the skills required to pass your driving test.
Using a Personalised Lesson Plan has been shown to increase the chances of you passing the Practical Test 1st Time.
